April's Accomplishments

​April is the first board member in HUSD to initiate and write policy, including the adoption of the following policies:

• Board Policy 0415 on Equity and Antiracism (2020)
• Board Policy 6142 on Ethnic Studies (2021)
• ​Board Policy 5144 on Discipline (2022)
• Board Policy 0415 on Inclusive Education (2023)

April also sponsored the resolution to declare June as Pride Month in HUSD and co-sponsored the resolutions to bring equity to the arts and to have more intentional outreach for family engagement. Additionally, she proposed and requested the design of a district-wide Literacy Plan (2023) to address the need for all students to read.
