Led the District in a major reform of disciplinary approaches, namely, moving away from punitive "student discipline" and instead toward Restorative Practices and healing-centered schools, including a collaborative rewriting of the Board Policy on Discipline (coming to the board for approval this summer)
April also sponsored the resolution to declare June as Pride Month in HUSD and co-sponsored the resolutions to bring equity to the arts and to have more intentional outreach for family engagement.
